Ever felt like you have zero drive to get up and get going? Breaking the monotonous loop seems like a heavy task? Ever felt tired enough to procrastinate on a very regular basis? All of these could be the symptoms of a stress burnout. Checking in with your psychologist is an important step but at times we need an extra push for doing things and feeling good about them. Below listed are the five ways to live a healthier and better life then what you are used to.

  1. Drink your water properly!
Need a better skincare? Drink your water. Want to lose wait? Drink your water. Feeling tired? Drink your water. The amount of water we need is dependent on various factors such as humidity, your physical activity, and your weight, but generally, we need 2.7-3.7 liters of water intake per day.[2] Since food intake contributes about 20% of our fluid intake, that means we need to drink about 2.0-3.0 liters of water or about 8-10 glasses (now you know how the 8 glasses recommendation came about!). One way to tell if you’re hydrated — your urine should be slightly yellow. If it’s not, like it’s dark yellow or even orange, you’re not getting enough water! Other signs include dry lips, dry mouth, and little urination.
  2. Sweat off your worries!
You don’t have to get a gym membership to follow this ritual. You can always turn on your favourite playlist and dab a few times here and there. Walking is another option. “Exercise is not a ‘one size fits all’ situation,” said Casey Wallace, a physical therapist at OrthoIndy. “One of the most important things about initiating a new exercise routine is to make it enjoyable, that way it is easier to maintain this healthy habit.” Enjoy what you do. Take a break. Move. And initiate a routine that’s going to stick with you till the end.
  3. Take a nap.
Sleep. Like literally. Getting more sleep seems to be a healthy habit many people need to improve on. We already know that we need at least seven hours of shut-eye each night, so what prevents us from getting it? Think about how you can improve your biggest sleep disruptors and know this: Sleep deprivation can perpetuate serious health conditions, as well as negatively affect your mood, motivation and energy levels. Prioritizing sleep is one of the best things you can do to set yourself up for a successful, energized day.
  4. Meditate.
You don’t need to follow a 101 guide on meditation to get meditating. Simply sit wherever you like. Close your eyes. You can always turn on a beautiful beat or you can concentrate on your breathing. Shut off your thoughts and just focus on the way your body inhales and exhales every single breath for the next 5-10 minutes. Doing it 1-2 times a day is optimal and can improve your concentration by ten folds.
  5. Make your own bowl of happiness!
Salads can be interesting too! You don’t always have to add veggies that you puke on or fruits that you hate. Turn your salad game up-a-notch by searching for your favourite dressing or just cutting up the fruits you like! Make your own recipe or follow some healthy and yummy recipes online. You don’t have to eat a salad daily or incorporate it as your meal. You can always take it in between the meals in 2 days.
